Hi all, I am Jinzhu, a second year graduate student doing economics. Having served on the HCSSA board for two consecutive years, first as Party Chair and then VP, I have always enjoyed being a member of this vibrant and dedicated community, and would like to continue to work for it to the utmost of my ability. To this end, I am also honored to introduce my two team members, Zhunan Chen and Haifei Zhang, both having demonstrated their enthusiasm for HCSSA activities with their service in the past year. Hi, I`m Yundan Pi. I`m currently a G-2 grad student in GSAS, the Earth and Planetary Sciences Department, and my major is biogeochemistry. I have done several performances on stage before, and I have also served as a volunteer in HCSSA in the past. Now, I am writing with the confidence that I can be helpful with HCSSA teamwork, and I hope I can hold the position of Secretary in HCSSA from 2009 to 2010, to do things, to serve people, and to enjoy public activities in the coming academic year with all the Chinese folks in Boston area. Dear All: I am Yuelin (ÔÀÁÖ), a Harvard Ph.D. in the history of science, and I have been chairing the HCSSA Seminar Committee for a few years.As a key function of HCSSA, our seminar has built up a good reputation with its characteristic style -- independent and free-speech, critical and humorous. The topics of our seminars cover a broad range -- economical, political, social, and cultural, as well as the speakers -- Harvard scholars, visiting scholars, doctoral students, etc. I feel greatly encouraged since the seminars have been so well received, and I would take it as a honor if I could continue offering my service. |

Currently, I am a graduating senior at Harvard College, majoring in philosophy. From this summer, I'll become a doctoral student in business administration, at Harvard Business School (DBA program). I am a Master of Liberal Arts in Government candidate at Harvard University Extension School, and currently working on my thesis, entitled ¡°Too-Big-to-Fail versus Too-Small-to-Bail¡± with Professor Cooper from Harvard Economic Department. I am also interning at Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School.

Currently I work at MCB as Research Associate. In the past I co-chaired the Network Communication with Haifei Zhang. As one of a few staff members to serve the HCSSA community, my role in HCSSA is far beynd the Network communication. I have organized the Harvard Chinese Basketball Club for a few years and bridged the connection between Students and other Scholars. I like to contunue this important role for the benefit of HCSSA community. |

This is Lijuan Deng from Harvard School of Public Health. I would be willing and honored to serve as Chair of Sport.
I have been a researcher in biostatistics for almost one year in school of public health. Since I come to Harvard last July, I have been serving as a secretary for HCSSA community from 2008-2009. Prior to that, I have been a secretary in Johns Hopkins CSSA when I studied there. In the past, my roles in CSSA have not been limited to secretary work. I have caught every possible volunteering chance to serve our whole community from drafting flyers, preparing parties, distributing tickets, decorating and cleaning up the gathering place... I have a personality of ¡°doing it before saying¡±, and I am willing to put my hands on whenever I am needed.
I will do my best to promote more sports activities into our community and make our life in Harvard more healthy and energetic. Your trust and support are really appreciated. Thank you. |

My name is Haoxuan Tong (ͯºÆÝæ) and I am an incoming PhD student in the Division of Medical Sciences. As a visiting fellow in Harvard last year, I was lucky to get lots of help from current HCSSA members and deeply moved by the selflessness of HCSSA fellows. I also have many rewarding memories through HCSSA events and would like to bring more helpful and joyful experiences to the Harvard Chinese community.
I would like to serve as the chair of party in HCSSA due to the significance and my interest as well as my capability in this position. As an easy-going, responsible and careful person, I believe that I would be competent to hold some interesting parties to bring more laughs and happy hours to you guys. I also believe that I can learn a lot through this job that would better myself. Hi, my name is Luhan(Ñîè´ÝÕ); I am a second year PhD student with concentration in Biological Sciencesl. I am very excited about this chance to be a part of the HCSSA team and serve as a party chair next year. I have been a regular at the events hosted by the HCSSA either as a performer or as a volunteer. We might have met last year at the events such as the Moon Festival Party, the Spring Festival Party, the Mother's Day Concert, and the Paintball game! I enjoy those events very much, thus I will be highly motivated to create more such activities and make them more enjoyable, accessible, and flexible. At the same time, I will try to create more chances for our members to interact with students from other colleges and universities by collaborate more with other school's student organizations. Meanwhile, I will coordinate with the school to hold our events at more comfortable and professional auditoriums. Finally, I hope my effort will make our member's experience in the HCSSA while I am in office the one that they will enjoy and never forget! |

I am Wen, a second-year graduate student at Harvard Medical School (HMS). I have been working as a board member of HMS Chinese Biomedical Student Organization (CBSO-HMS), and organized ten academic seminars in the past year. The academic contact work not only exposed me to extensive interactions with professors and students at HMS, but also made me realize the importance of broader communications with friends from a variety of subject areas.
I apply for the position "Chair of Public Relationships" in order to bring this diversity to our HCSSA members. Having served as vice president of Student Association at my undergrad department, I am confident of my ability to coordinate between organizations and the public. My name is Wenjia You, a first year graduate student studying the mysteries of the brain. I am running for the position as Chair of Public Relationships. For the past year, I served on the Alumni Relations Committee of BGSO, which is the student organization for all PhD students in the Longwood medical area, and co-organized the student-alumni social and a networking panel for all students in Division of Medical Sciences. Realizing how important it is to establish our own networks even during graduate school, and how much effort it might take for we Chinese students, I want to build a platform to facilitate this process, help you connect with people you want to meet, and make resources out there more readily accessible by the Chinese community. I am a post-doc at physics developing a new electronic method to denovo sequence DNA. I would like to apply for the Chair of Outing. I am socially very active, curious and constantly learning. Love to travel, pinned over 100 cities in 18 countries on the Facebook application "Cities I've visited". I have some experience in student politics, being the student representative for the Board of the student house "Sablons", Switzerland, 2004-2006. Also I have co-organized many parties with up to 300 people such that I have experience with organizing larger events and I am aware of the logistics involved. 12 years of accident-free driving. Practiced sports: Badminton, running, rowing, swimming, skiing, windsurfing, volley ball, hiking. My personal goal is to arrange 10 outings a year. |
